      <image:title>Coach Hugo - He’s married!</image:title>
<image:caption>Before moving back to Portland, Hugo and his now-wife Victoria got engaged in Oklahoma City with the clever assistance of some of his longest-standing trainees. Victoria is a Doctor of Pharmacy and has a Master’s for Public Health and Policy from Dartmouth. Both Hugo and Victoria have been plant-based for seven years after being inspired by Victoria’s father Rob, who has been plant-based for twelve. They both love the rain (obviously) and being around family in Portland, Oregon has been very nice. Victoria has been a massive influence in the success and continued growth of Hugo’s coaching career through everything and will be seen every now and then at the sessions. They currently have a cat, and a very energetic golden doodle.</image:caption>

<image:title>Coach Hugo - He graduated from the University of Portland.</image:title>
<image:caption>Hugo graduated in three and a half years with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He was one of the last commitments of a large incoming freshman class into a strong Portland line-up, given no guarantee of setting foot on the field. To quote Clive Charles, “You’ve got to earn the right to play.” Hugo worked his way into the starting lineup after four games and started every game for the rest of his collegiate career. He went on to earn All-WCC honors each year, including Most Improved Player his freshman year, and ended his senior year with a First Team Selection, along with Team MVP as a left back. Portland was a place that allowed Hugo to thrive on and off the field. During each off-season, Hugo spent his summers training with top level competition. In the summer of 2014, he was with the Timbers U23 squad and trained with and against some of the best talent currently in the MLS. In 2015, he traveled to Hanover, Germany to spend the summer training with the Bundesliga squad Hannover 96 under the guidance of Portland Alum and former US Men’s National Team Captain Steve Cherundolo. He also spent a brief stint in Sweden with a Division 3 Team.</image:caption>

<image:title>Coach Hugo - He wants to help you reach your next level.</image:title>
<image:caption>Coach Hugo is ready to work day in and day out to make sure that you, as a player, are receiving the training that is meticulous to you. Whether your goal is to move up a team, earn more playing time, or keep your fitness and touches on the ball sharp, Hugo and his team of coaches will be there to help you achieve it. The sessions are designed in a way that balance the serious mentality of competition and the fun-loving nature of the game. Hugo is highly active throughout the sessions, making sure that the pace of the training is intense and also to promote more game realistic situations. Players looking to train with RAIN need to bring focus, energy, and a positive attitude. While you are taking it easy, someone else is out there working to be an even stronger player. What type of player do you want to be?</image:caption>

<image:title>Coach Hugo - He grew up in a big soccer family.</image:title>
<image:caption>Hugo Rhoads was born in Portland, Oregon and had a ball at his feet before he could walk. Growing up, he played for various recreational teams before transitioning into club competitions around the age of 12. He went on to play the next 6 years with FC Portland under the guidance of Brandon McNeil and Rob Baarts, who later coached him in college, as well. Utilizing the style of play and philosophy that was introduced by Portland legend Clive Charles, his coaches throughout the recreational years helped him develop into the player, coach, and person that he is today. Having both an older brother and older sister who played soccer, as well as parents who were there every step of the way to make sure he made it early to each practice, game, and workout, Hugo Rhoads indeed came from a soccer family.</image:caption>

<image:title>Coach Hugo - He started playing and coaching professionally in Oklahoma City.</image:title>
<image:caption>In February of 2016, Hugo came to Oklahoma City (OKC) to play for the NASL’s Rayo OKC. He was one of three rookies on the team, which had a star-studded roster of former National Team and World Cup players of their respective countries, including Georgios Samaras, Robbie Findley, and Derek Boateng. Hugo was signed as a left back and transitioned into a left midfielder. Outside of training, he connected with youth teams and athletes and began providing private coaching lessons. From this grew a passion for working with players aspiring to improve. Through this passion, Hugo became involved in Soccer Allies, an organization that aims to help recreational youth players fall in love with the game. Taught by former MLS and USL players, the Soccer Allies mission has been one of the biggest influences on Coach Hugo’s coaching style. Between 2017-2020, Hugo began to build a name for himself in OKC as one of the state’s top private coaches. At his peak before moving back to Portland, he was seeing 50-60 kids per week in a small group or private session setting.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Training Philosophy - Habits</image:title>
<image:caption>We take building habits very seriously at RAIN, both on and off the field. Reinforcing good habits and correcting bad habits is vital to an athlete’s training mentality, which allows us to achieve maximum success. In order to become the best player and person we can, we need to make sure we train with proper technique, quality, and attitude. Whether it’s how we strike a ball, how we communicate, or how we carry ourselves, we want to put the proper habits in place. Like any good thing, building good habits will be a process and can take time. Every player is different and the process is unique for each player.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Training Philosophy - Heart</image:title>
<image:caption>RAIN is driven by the love of the game. The reward of seeing hard work pay off has a direct impact on their success on the field and in life. We want to inspire and keep that fire burning for players to want to improve by going the extra mile. Our sessions are a place for you to feel safe to be yourself, while at the same time learning to love the feelings of hard work and achievement.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Training Philosophy - Focus</image:title>
<image:caption>To train with RAIN means that you are ready to get down to business and lock in your focus. No matter the skill level or age, when you step on that field with us, the expectation is that you are mentally and physically ready to learn and work. For however long we are training, everything will be executed with quality and precision down to smallest details. We will always train in a way that encourages you to enjoy the process, while maintaining a high level of focus.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Foster Langsdorf Minnesota United (MLS) “Growing up I had the pleasure of playing with Hugo in club soccer for a few years before we went to college. He is a great leader who would always find a way to be positive and motivate his teammates to train to their best abilities as well as stay calm in games that were getting hectic. Hugo was very humble and would work tirelessly and selflessly for the team while encouraging us to always train and play at a high standard. I have worked with Hugo since starting my professional career and the training atmosphere he creates is very similar to what I knew when we were younger. He has a winning mentality that is contagious and the energy of the session is very high. He will push you to be the best you can and maintains the fun loving nature of the game. Whether you are new to soccer or if you are reaching professional level competition, I would recommend players of all ages to train with Hugo.”</image:caption>

      <image:title>Testimonials - Angie</image:title>
<image:caption>Parent of Karen (U17) “My daughter Karen started playing soccer on a recreation team when she was 7 or 8 years old. It didn’t take long for her to fall in love with the sport and she was asking to tryout at the next level, competitive club ball. When she was around 12 years old, mom and dad decided it was time and she tried out for and made a competitive Club team (4th team out of a total of 5 teams), but it was clear that she was still wanting to go further. That is when we found Coach Hugo. Karen’s confidence on the field changed once she started sessions with Hugo. Her foot skills improved greatly and she no longer felt that she only had speed in her bag of tricks. With her boost in confidence and her touches improving she was soon asked to guest play for the 3rd and 2nd team as well as for some of the older teams in her Club. She kept going to see Coach Hugo at least once a week, twice if our schedules would allow it. When her Freshman year of High School rolled around Karen was thrilled to be placed on the Varsity Team as a starter playing BOTH offense and defense and was named All District. Hugo has been a huge part of Karen’s growth and advancement within the sport of soccer. Hugo always made a point to ask Karen what she wanted to work on or focus her session on. Hugo is very good at taking the time to always explain a move, help perfect a pass or just ask if she had any questions. When the pandemic hit and the world shutdown, Coach Hugo did not forget about his kids. There were endless Zoom sessions and texts to keep in touch and to keep improving those skills. He was as flexible as a coach can be, working around busy work schedules, school, school soccer and Club soccer. Karen is now 16 years old and plays for OEFC Central Green 04, part of the Red River NPL North Division and she has once again made her High School Varsity Team.”</image:caption>

<image:caption>Parent of Dylan and Andrew (U18/U17) “I’ve known Hugo Rhoads for 5 years and my two sons have trained for him consistently since then. From where they started and where they are today is nearly unmeasurable. Their skill sets in all aspects of playing soccer, their fitness level and understanding of the game has grown exponentially since we met Hugo. My boys are currently starting for their varsity soccer team in high school and play for one of the best schools in the state and are part of the core of this elite team. More than the fitness and the skill that has been develop by Hugo, their self-confidence has soared in all aspects of their life. I believe their wonderful grades reflect their success on the pitch that Hugo has developed. Hugo and his training platform is as good as I ever seen with any other organization or individual that teach kids truly how to play the game and be prepared for each match. Not only is Hugo a professional, he is also a good person that truly embodies good character with excellent life skills and has been a great mentor to my boys. For anyone considering having their children train with Hugo, please feel free to call me directly in OKC at 405-947-5546, I would love to discuss more about my boys experience and any questions you may have.”</image:caption>

<image:caption>Parent of Madison (U13) “Coach Hugo has been amazing with my daughter. We first met him when he was coaching a clinic that my daughter wanted to attend. She took his teachings to heart. He offers great words of encouragement and has the ability to reach the kids unlike any other soccer coach has. She has the drive to learn the game from him and to strive to get better. Her skills were mediocre at first. After many sessions with Coach Hugo she is now outperforming other players at the club level as a recreational player. He has the ability to relate to the kids and keep them interested. His subtle corrections do not demean the player, but makes them want to be better. Even after graduation of the program he was involved in, he continued to feed her more information and she soaked it up like a sponge. She continues to seek instruction from him even though we are half a continent away. He gets to know the kids on a personal level and keeps track of how they are coming along. He will watch their games and build upon what he saw at the game even though he is just there as a spectator. As a parent we could not have asked for a better coach for our daughter who loves every aspect of the game.”</image:caption>

<image:caption>Parent of Emily (U15) “Emily (my daughter) has been training both individually and in small groups with Hugo for over three years now. She has been playing club and school soccer for many years, and she loves the additional training she gets from the sessions that aren’t in her regular team practices. As a parent, I love the development that has occurred over her time spent with Hugo, both from the technical aspect and her overall knowledge of the game as a whole and how her position functions during games. Hugo’s drills challenge her both physically and mentally, which is important for her girls her age to keep her engaged. Her speed of play has consistently improved, and she looks so confident on the ball when she’s been working in the sessions. I’ve seen the skills she learns translate to her outdoor and futsal play. The sessions are challenging but she’s always enjoyed them and we’ve never had an issue with her or her training partner not giving it their best. I want to thank Hugo for all the effort and preparation he has put in to make sure that she gets the best sessions possible.” “This is by far my favorite training sessions that I go to. My friend Macy and I always have a lot of fun but we always feel like we learned something new from the training. The one on one time is always fun and challenging. I can tell my footwork and touch on the ball are so much better from working with him (Hugo). The game seems to slow down and I don’t feel panicky on the ball after we’ve been working with him. He makes it enjoyable and takes the pressure out of the sessions that we have during club and school training.” -Emily</image:caption>

<image:caption>Parent of Brycen and Bridjer (U9/U11) “Coach Hugo started training my 10 year old son..and 8 year old daughter…3 years ago when we got our kids involved in a local group training organization that Hugo was running. They were 7 and 5 at the time. Both my kids always wanted Coach Hugo’s group when we would go to our sessions twice a week…and for good reason. His commitment to the kids, his commitment to the process, his commitment to proper training and technique…based off individual players needs…is unsurpassed. His knowledge of the game shines through in every single detailed, and well thought-out session he provides. We quickly transitioned into “private” training to further their growth. My kids went from beginners…to advanced players, in just a short amount of time…and we have Coach Hugo to thank for that! They are both now succeeding at a high level in their competitive Soccer Organizations.”</image:caption>

<image:caption>Parent of Lexi (U12) “My daughter has been training with Hugo for over a year now. We have watched her continuously grow and improve over the time she’s been working with him. On top of learning new skills, Hugo focuses on attitude and mentality to help her off the field as well. Her accuracy has improved tremendously with handling the ball, dribbling, passing, scoring, and understanding the game better. He is kind, fun, and has a passion for working with kids and adults. Not only did Hugo help her with her soccer skills but also helped her gain more confidence and love for the game. She always enjoys Hugo practice. He makes her work hard and understands how to get the most out of her while having so much fun. She learns new skills and improves every lesson. His communication is very clear, quick, and professional which make scheduling and understanding what I can do as a parent to help easy. I would highly recommend lessons with Hugo.”</image:caption>

<image:title>Biomechanics - How does biomechanics relate to soccer?</image:title>
<image:caption>Biomechanics is the study of mechanical laws relating to the movement and structure of living organisms. RAIN does its homework and makes sure to maintain an up to date knowledge and understanding on proper mobility and biomechanics in todays athletic world. The majority of youth athletes do not get the appropriate and necessary training to learn how to control their body. Whether it is accelerating past an opponent, rotating to strike a ball at the top of the box, or landing strongly and safely after a jump, some athletes struggle with proper mechanics. We focus a lot on not only showing players how to perform these movements correctly, but why they are so important and how to execute them appropriately. One of the habits we build at RAIN is to take these body mechanics seriously as we know how important it is to an athletes development. Much like building a structure, if you have a weak base that contains flaws, you can only build the structure so tall before you see damage and instability. We want to help players develop a strong base of mechanics that will directly influence their athletic capabilities moving forward in life. With a strong base comes controlled movements, which reduces the amount of wasted energy, leading to an overall reduction in fatigue thus improved decision making. Coaches love to see players that can play the entire game and have the physical capacity to remain strong and mentally focused until the final whistle. “We don’t just want to build strong and agile athletes; we want to build champions.” -Terry Favero PhD Biology of Exercise and Sport Science Professor at The University of Portland Conditioning and Fitness Coach for Men and Women Varsity Programs</image:caption>

      <image:title>Biomechanics - Recovery, Injury Prevention, and Mindset</image:title>
<image:caption>RAIN wants to work with you on becoming a safer, more competitive athlete. With the focus on development of good stabilization technique, powerful precise movements, and overall body functionality in fluid unison, we urge players to take control of how they train. Injuries often result from poor mechanics and movement. Lack of attention to details for such things as a warm up or seemingly simple exercise is a mindset that we aim to fix. With this lack of control comes injury. Players that get fatigued will start to lose their form and body control deteriorates. We make it a goal to work with players on reducing the amount of form that they lose as they fatigue, and maintaining a high precision of control even when they are tired. It is difficult to train someone to be mentally tough, but we believe that we can help you get there. Throughout our training we will be there with constant guidance and reinforcement to make sure you learn how to push through adversity and stay composed while doing so. We believe that it is important for players to learn how to demand more from themselves and constantly be holding themselves to a high standard. Proper recovery is critical to consistent performance is on the soccer field. RAIN will teach players how to recover so that they can be ready to go 100% again, faster than the competition. Our aim is to reduce chance of injuries, increase overall energy, and maximize success.</image:caption>
